Looking back on the Watchtowers Walk

Delightful Coastal Walks

Take a more extended look at the villages, towns, and mountains of the Axarquia region of Malaga.

Using the coastal town of Nerja as our base, we will embark on a journey of discovery, exploring the diverse villages, towns, and mountains of the Malaga region of La Axarquía. From the tranquil beauty of the Sierra de Almijara Natural Park to the rich cultural heritage of the Moorish hilltop village of Comares, this journey promises to be as diverse as it is captivating.

How difficult?

If you are a regular walker, there should be nothing challenging on any of these walks. The walks are rated moderate, with sections that may be steep and include some rough terrain underfoot.

When we set out each day, our walks are between 12 and 16 kilometres, with approximately 550 to 650 metres of ascent.

When to come

This holiday is available from January to May and then from September to December. The weather is generally consistent in those months, but the temperature can be in the high 20s in May and September.
