Fun in El Torcal

Exploring at a more leisurely pace

Join me for a series of relaxing and unhurried walks that will take you to some of the most inspiring areas of inland Malaga. This holiday is perfect if you want a leisurely day out on the trail or if you're taking your first walking trip abroad.

From what was once known as the world's most dangerous path to the incredible karstic limestone formations at the El Torcal Natural Park, these relaxing walks will surprise you with how diverse and beautiful walking in Andalucía can be.

A common theme among the three walks is geology. Erosion has played a significant role in shaping the landscapes in El Torcal and El Chorro, while the mountains of the Central Limestone Arch provide a stunning backdrop for the walk around the Hondonero Meadow.

How difficult?

The Unhurried holiday is designed for a leisurely exploration of unique and beautiful places on foot. While most paths and tracks we will use are easy, some challenging sections may require good balance and include loose terrain. In El Torcal, using the occasional handhold may make progress easier.

Overall, the walks are rated as Easy.

When we set out each day, our walks are between 6 and 10 kilometres, with approximately 220 to 460 metres of ascent.

When to come

This holiday is available from March to early May and then from the end of September to January. The weather is generally consistent in those months, but in May and September, the temperature can be in the high 20s.

Are you unsure of when to come, or do you have preferred dates? Please look at our available dates; we have a wide range throughout the year.

Our photo album has great pictures from this walking week, and you can read our Blog article to learn more about what you will see on the walks.

If you cannot join us on one of our collections, then there are taxis that operate from Malaga Airport to Colmenar.

If possible then we do like to meet up for a tapas and drinks in the afternoon so that everyone can get to know each other, and we can run through the itinerary for the weekend.

A circular walk in the El Torcal Natural Park.

El Torcal is an incredible karst limestone landscape that is easily explorable. The sedimentation from over 200 million years ago, compressed and compacted many kilometres under the sea, has slowly been thrust to the surface. The prolonged action of water, ice, and wind on the limestone has created these spectacular karst formations.
