Breaking up the Winter

The Axarquía region is blessed with over 300 days of sunshine a year, making it one of the best climates in Europe. Add to that the beautiful white villages, pristine beaches and coves in the protected natural park, and the stunning mountains of the Sierra de Almijara Natural Park, and you undoubtedly have the perfect winter walking escape.

Imagine walking along the coastal path, passing historic defensive watchtowers under a canopy of Aleppo pine trees as you weave between the coves and beaches. Picture what it must have felt like to storm the defended fortress of Comares as you slowly climb from the valley floor and edge your way beneath the rock faces that formed part of the natural defences.

This weekend, you'll have the chance to enjoy some fantastic walks. With clear blue skies, a gentle breeze, and the warm sun enveloping your body, it will be the perfect way to escape the long northern European winters.

How difficult?

If you enjoy walking regularly, you will find these walks easy to moderate, with some small sections that may be steep or have rough terrain.

Our daily walks typically range between 11 and 14 kilometres, with an ascent of approximately 500 to 700 meters.

When to come

This holiday is available only from January 16th to March 10th 2025.

While the weather is generally stable during these months, there is a chance of a rain shower or a cooler air mass passing through. If necessary, we will change the itinerary to ensure you enjoy the best walking experience in the prevailing conditions.

Are you unsure when to come, or do you have preferred dates? Please look at our available dates; we have a wide range throughout these months.

Our photo album has great pictures from this walking weekend, and you can read our Blog article to learn more about what you will see on the walks.
