Breaking up the Winter
The Axarquía region is blessed with over 300 days of sunshine a year, making it one of the best climates in Europe. Add to that the beautiful white villages, pristine beaches and coves in the protected natural park, and the stunning mountains of the Sierra de Almijara Natural Park, and you undoubtedly have the perfect winter walking escape.
Follow the coastal path past historic watchtowers shaded by Aleppo pine trees, moving between coves and beaches. Discover the ancient trading routes of the upper Axarquía Valley, once used by early Roman settlers. Continue beneath the limestone cliffs of a gorge shaped over millions of years.
This weekend, you'll have the chance to enjoy some fantastic walks. With clear blue skies, a gentle breeze, and the warm sun enveloping your body, it will be the perfect way to escape the long northern European winters.
How difficult?
If you enjoy walking regularly, you will find these walks easy to moderate, with some small sections that may be steep or rough.
Our daily walks typically range from 9 to 14 kilometres, with an ascent of approximately 300 to 600 metres.
When to come
This holiday is available only from January to March.
While the weather is generally stable during these months, there is a chance of a rain shower or a cooler air mass passing through. If necessary, we will adjust the itinerary to ensure you have the best walking experience given the prevailing conditions.
Are you unsure when to come, or do you have preferred dates? Please get in touch with me, as I may be able to offer alternative dates. I can also reserve your holiday, giving you time to confirm travel arrangements.
